NOVA SECTOR FLEET COMPOSITION

Current Imperial Fleet design is organised around standard, modular components. This is primarily to allow swift rebuilding of the Fleet following the Madron War which ended in 2971 and also allows for easier servicing and logistical support.
Imperial warships are elegant, swift and agile with a large degree of technical sophistication unmatched by almost any other race known to the Empire. Their primary defences are their extremely powerful energy shields. If however these shields are breached, Imperial vessels can be revealed to be somewhat fragile compared to ships of Madron design which have enhanced armour and stronger, larger hullforms.
Since Madron doctrine calls for overwhelming numbers of missiles, point-defence aboard any Imperial warship is of paramount importance and their systems are very effective at prioritising and eliminating targets as they come to bear.
By contrast to the Madrons, the numbers of Imperial missiles aboard any one ship are fewer in number but generally more accurate. The Bradley Shipkiller missile is the most destructive missile known to any race, Terran or Madron and lives up to its name as it can destroy even the largest warship if it is not intercepted en route.
Imperial warship designs can be easily adapted for specific mission profiles and indeed this flexibility is the major strength of the Empire. Unfortunately, against the Madrons, who have a doctrine of quantity over quality, an Imperial warship can often seem lacking as opposed to an equivalent Madron vessel. Where there often appears to be a lack of parity, one should remember that the important aspects of an Imperial design vs. a Madron vessel are often hidden beneath the hull.
Since arriving in Nova Sector, Home Fleet has redesignated itself Nova Fleet and has taken it upon itself to establish a permanent base in this unexplored galaxy to rid the universe of the Madron scourge once and for all.
