IMPERIAL NAVY

The Imperial Navy is the "Senior Service" of the TEF and receives the majority of funding from the Imperial coffers. Due to the nature of the Empire, spread across hundreds of star systems throughout the galaxy, all other military services are subservient to the Navy and rely upon the Navy for protection and transport.

Charged with "Protecting the homeworlds, colonies and outposts of mankind wherever they may be, and the interests of the human race", the Navy has a long history and tradition of brave and fierce warriors dating back to the wet-Navy days of Earth itself.

Since the Madron War, the Imperial Navy has been subjected to an intensive period of ship-building and technological advancement to ensure that it is capable of fully defending the Empire in the event of a similar catastrophe befalling the galaxy.

The modern Imperial Navy fields thousands of warships, grouped into many different fleets. Traditionally, a "Home Fleet" has always been deployed near the core worlds and the capital of the Empire to defend the Emperor himself and the executive offices beneath him. The "Home Fleet" is by far the most prestigious and is always maintained at optimum capacity. It is also the first fleet to receive new warship designs for deployment and the most modern equipment.

Below the Home Fleet, several large Battle-Fleets are generally deployed in and around the core worlds to defend the inner areas of the Empire. Some of these battle fleets are equivalent in size to the "Home Fleet" itself, others consist of entire detachments of Battleships or Fighter Strike Groups, some docked at dedicated storage facilities and ready for reactivation, some on constant patrol.

On the outskirts of the Empire, or the galactic rim, smaller patrol fleets scout and defend human interests and protect commerce from pirates or other enemies of the Empire.

The Emperor is honorary Commander-in-Chief of all TEF divisions. Below him are 8 Grand Admirals, one acting as chief advisor to the Imperium, one in direct command of the "Home Fleet" and 6 others in direct command of other large fleets either within the core worlds or on the galactic perimeter.

Roles within the Navy are colour-coded by uniform to reflect their responsibilities.
